Alaska (from Dad on Suggest)

Alaska is pretty cool! It is beautiful, and full of activities. You could go see Denali National Park, which is home to the biggest mountain is North America, or go to Glacier Bay to kayak through the beautiful glaciers. But you’ll probably end up going to one of the 119 state parks. At the parks you can go camping, fishing or having a picnic. I have a picture of  one of the parks to the right.

I know that Spring Break is coming up. But, lets say you have plans. In winter, Alaska is cold!!!! You might want to go in warmer weather. But there is a reason to go in the winter. They are called aurora borealis lights, or Northern Lights. In the winter,  aurora borealis lights appear over the Eagle River. I am also attaching a picture. They are colorful and beautiful…. if you’re summer is packed.

You can see, that Alaska is a cool place. I am going on a cruise there in July. And it is definitely special!!!

Do you know why the aurora borealis is observed only in winter? Is it because you need a dark sky? I would love to see one!

I visited the great state of Alaska in 1996. I went there on a mission trip with my church for 18 days. We stayed at an Athabaskin Indian Village call Huslia. You can learn more about this fasinating village on the web. It was one of the most awesome trips I’ve ever been on. When you come to Knoxville for your visit, I’ll show you my scrapbook. I LOVE ALASKA. And HEY, when you get there, give my friend Sarah Palin a call.
