Emma –
I just finished A Series of Unfortunate Events #1. I love books for this age-level – I have since I was in elementary school. The poor Baudelaire kids – are they always so unfortunate? I really do not like Count Olaf! Are the Baudelaire kids in the whole series? I hope Count Olaf is not – he is quite the villain. For some reason, Jonathan doesn’t want to listen to my recommendations, but I would recommend this one. I checked out BFG from the library, so I am on to that one next. I thought I’d screen some for Jonathan and Stephen, but I also like just reading them for myself!

Dear Emma,
I really liked the BFG. I think it was funny that the BFG called helicopters
bellypoppers. I think I will read The Twits next. thank you Emma!

Hi Emma – Do you have any book recommendations for boys that are in 1st and 2nd grade but reading on a 3rd and 4th grade level? Would any of these be better than others? We’re looking for something not too violent but creative and interesting.

Dear Mrs. Buck,
I really reccomend BFG. Or any other Roald Dahl book. The problem is that parents have complained that he was to violent, but I think it wasn’t and he was just being creative.
