continued from France…

The day after we arrived, we came to the Eiffel Tower. It was HUGE and daunting. Street vendors were drawn to the area with all the tourists, and took to pestering us. It felt like we waited a lifetime in that ticket line. It wasn’t too bad, though. We chatted with a honeymooning Austrailin couple.

            We finally got in the elevator, and went up… and up… and up. We filtered out of the small elevator and took in the view. Paris was a pretty city. All the buildings blended together, until your eyes would come across a church, with a gold top. In the back, you could see Mont mart, the only hill in Paris. It felt like the whole city was laid out before me… and technically, it was.

 A few weeks ago, I got back from Paris, France. It was such a cool experience! This was my first time in Europe and it was a great first impression. All the people were as skinny as sticks and everyone knew what trends to wear. You think a lot of people wear scarves in TN, but everyone wears scarves in Paris. Being a ten year old girl, I’m very familiar with Disney Princess movies. Cinderella, the Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, Snow White, Alladin (Jasmine), Sleeping Beauty, Pocahantas, Mulan… there are lots. And though there are some Asian royalty none are african american.

That is all changing with the new movie Princess and the Frog ( Starring Ailleen Quin). It is about (the first) African American princess, living in New Orleans.She  thinks that she’d turn the frog into a prince by kissing him.

They end up going on quite journey when she turns into a frog and both have to find somone to turn them back.

I wonder why Disney is making this movie now. Maybe it has something to do with Obama being president. That might be irrelavent but it sure is coincidental. I don’t really think that this is so big for African Americans… but I do think It will be a fantastic movie.   

All through fourth grade I had some really great friends. They all had strange takes on life which made them unique in a great way. We all had fights, like friends do, but when fourth grade was over good-byes were hard.

I wonder if someone new will befriend me in fifth grade…

      A few days ago I went to see the Disney movie UP….. for the second time. It is sooo good! Because of it’s huge marketing campaign, you probably know what it’s about, but if you don’t I’ll tell you.

      It is about an old man who befriends a you Wilderness Explorer, (boy scout).They travel to South America, trying to fufill Mr. Fredrickson’s dream. On the way they meet a talking dog(s), and a bird who gets them into trouble.

      Last night I finished reading Little Women. It was really good book. I read it for school, which wasn’t a good idea, noting that I have to read at least 3 other books during summer. It was about four sisters: Meg was mature and proper, Jo was wild and tomboyish, Beth was sweet and selfless, and Amy prissy and loved.

      This book is about these sisters living their life. It is full of happines, sorrow, anger, relent, and lots of love for each other. Lots of the time the sisters aren’t together, but always close at heart. It’s a beatifully written novel, and I definitely reccomend it. Louisa May Alcott really brings this family to life.

      Last week and the week before that, I went to Young Scholars day camp. It was a lot of fun. There are 4 periods of classes that you pick. I reccomend MMMM Chocolate, Basket Weaving, Solve the Mystery, Magical Magician and International Food Festival. I also liked the french class. There are so many classes to pick from and more in Senior Scholars. You go there when you are to old for Young Scholars

      Going into fifth grade, this was my last time at young scholars. It was sad on Friday, saying goodbye to all my class teachers. Young Scholars is a really awesome camp!

          School’s out and summer is in! Get ready for hot weather and long days! Though I’m happy about school being out, I’m also sad. I feel like all the happy times and laughs spent with 4th grade friends, is over. But I don’t have it that bad… 5th graders have to say goodbye to the whole elementary school! I will miss you, ( Erynn, Kate, Ellie, Sarah, Hannah and Mrs. Riddle’s class).  Plus I will miss Rachel Liske, a 5th grader who’s moving in July.

          There are things to love about the summer, though. First of all…. NO SCHOOL! No fretting about grades, or stressing about studying. It will be nice… also my birthday is in June! YAY! I am very excited to finally turn 10. I also tend to sleep very late. And there is sooooo much free time to do so much. HAVE A FANTASTIC SUMMER!

          TCAP is Tennessee’s big test. Kids from 3-8th grade take it. It covers what you have to know for your grade. And, last week my school took it. After, “Good Morning, Scales”, we got to work. Each section was about an hour long. We did 2 sections a day.

          Then for the rest of the day we snacked, read, watched movies…stuff like that. We also had extra long recess. Because it was week long testing, we weren’t allowed to learn! I know I should be happy that TCAP is over, but now I miss it.
